Petersburg (Little Norway), a bustling fishing community, is located in the heart of the Tongass National Forest. This picturesque village is surrounded by majestic snowcapped coastal mountains, from which the local landmark, Devils Thumb, towers out against the clean, blue, northern sky.
North of Petersburg, in world renowned Fredrick Sound, are the summering grounds for pods of Humpback and Killer whales.
Just south of Petersburg is LeConte Glacier, "The southern most tidewater glacier in North America." A jewel in the pristine and unspoiled wilderness where icebergs calve off the glacier like floating sculptures attracting many species of marine life.
